Parish Nurse

Mission Statement

The purpose of Parish Nursing Health Ministry at Holy Cross Catholic and Lutheran Church of the Cross is to encourage health, healing, and the caring aspects of the people of Holy Cross Catholic and Lutheran Church of the Cross.

The Parish Nurses work to reflect God’s love to that our people may receive:

Services of the Parish Nurses

The Parish Nurse is a registered nurse who is committed to the healing mission of the church.  Parish Nurses strive to bring wholeness and healing to the communities of Holy Cross and Lutheran Church of the Cross by functioning not primarily as a medical model, but in the pastoral model of caring and ministry.  They promote understanding illness, coping with life changes, and education to maintain health of Mind, Body, and Spirit – all within a Christian faith foundation.  The Parish Nurse is not a substitute for home health nurses or other health professionals.  They will not do “hands on” nursing such as giving injections or medications, drawing blood, or other technical procedures. The appropriate referrals are made when such care is needed.

Activities and Events

The Parish Nurses are involved in numerous parish activities throughout the year. These have included: CPR & AED (Automated External Defibrillator) instruction, West Fargo Area Bereavement Support Group, Faithfully Fit Forever, which is a wellness program combining low-impact exercise, education and devotion, blood pressure checks, organizing blood drives, providing a Christian babysitting clinic for pre-teens and teens, Spring Health Day, Care Notes Display, bereavement mailings, annual Memorial Service, and individual home/hospital visits.   For schedules or upcoming events, check the Parish Health Ministry kiosk in the Cross Way Center or contact one of the Parish Nurses.
